BALBOA ISLAND

BALBOA ISLAND- The largest, most quaint, and tourist friendly of the Newport Beach Islands. You may reach it by bridge off Jamboree and Bayside Drive, or ride California’s only functioning auto ferryboat service, from the Balboa Peninsula Fun Zone. Marine Avenue is the island’s main street; lined with trendy boutiques, art galleries, whimsical shops, ice cream stands and favorite restaurants for many locals. It is also home of the “original frozen banana”; definitely worth trying. Parking can be a bit of a challenge; especially during the summer months and holidays. The rest of Balboa Island is pretty much residential, with a blend of duplexes and single-family homes. Like the Balboa Peninsula, parts of Corona del Mar and Newport Island, one will find anything from original beach cottages, to newer dream homes worthy of appearing in Architectural Digest or Coastal Living!

LITTLE BALBOA ISLAND- Is adjoined to Balboa, and it’s only access is from the bridge connecting the two sister islands or by boat. It tends to be less congested with traffic and visitors because it is completely residential. It is comprised of both waterfront and non-waterfront homes with wide, beautiful tree lined streets. This is a most charming island where perhaps not everyone wants to live, but everyone sure loves to visit; even the locals!
